Sara Wagner, MA
Being extremely passionate about working with refugee populations, Sara feels very blessed to have found a job in the field she has long desired. With a life-long passion for working in the Human Rights field, it was only fitting Sara received her BA in Sociology and Legal Studies and her MA in Political Science with a concentration in Human Rights and International Relations. Throughout her five year tenure at The University of Massachusetts Amherst, Sara was a Division 1 Track and Field athlete, specializing in the Hammer Throw! Even though her professional track and field career didn’t pan out, she is glad at least one of her professional dreams is becoming a reality. After graduating Sara wanted to fully immerse herself with an organization that worked with refugees and asylum seekers, which is how she found herself at The Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights (BCRHHR). Sara started at The Refugee center as a Refugee Patient Navigator where she volunteered full time performing numerous tasks such as call logs, assisting with intakes, scheduling appointments for patients, navigating patients and advocating for them around the hospital, and many fundraising projects. Because of her fundraising efforts she was hired by BCRHHR as the Special Projects Assistant. In this role, Sara trained new volunteers, assisted clients with case management needs, helped manage the data and database, and continued her fundraising efforts. Her time at BCRHHR has paved a path Sara would like to continue to go down, which is how she ended up at Libertas!
