On Monday, March 7th, the Libertas Center staff attended the 14th Annual National Consortium of Torture Treatment Programs (NCTTP) Research Symposium. Programs from across the globe presented some of their latest research on survivors’ experiences. From profound insights on stressors to unique findings on methods of treatment, the day was filled with important information to advocate for our clients and apply to our program and practices.

Kathy Suqui, the Libertas Data and Program Coordinator, said, “As a first-time attendee, I learned how robust the academic research is in the field. It is exciting to know that this research continues to secure funds for thousands of community members and informs our work to provide the best service possible.”
Beyond the presentations as well, the NCTTP Research Symposium provided a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with organizations worldwide through discussion, questions, and a little virtual dancing from Rwanda. We gained good insight into the latest research and treatment for survivors of torture, and we were grateful to take part. A big thank-you to the NCTTP for hosting and the Libertas staff for attending!
